About This Spot

Stepping into Country Kitchen feels like slipping into a familiar embrace—where the hum of friendly chatter softly fills the air and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals invites you to settle in. This East Haven staple welcomes locals and travelers alike with an easygoing rhythm, where the pace slows just enough to savor the simple joys of good company and hearty food.

The atmosphere here is warm and unpretentious, echoing the charm of a classic American diner infused with the spirit of a neighborhood gathering spot. Whether it’s an early morning visit for a breakfast that lingers warmly on the tongue or a midday pause with friends over a fresh, vibrant salad or a well-stacked sandwich, Country Kitchen feels like a place where time isn’t rushed—just shared.

The menu is a quiet celebration of familiar flavors told through generous portions and thoughtful touches. Pancakes come paired with crisp bacon, eggs arrive dressed in classic Benedict style, and sandwiches are crafted with a careful balance of textures and tastes that speak to a kitchen attentive to comfort and heartiness. It’s the kind of place where you notice the little things—the care in the seasoning, the perfect chew of sweet potato fries, the way a simple omelette feels like a small act of kindness on a plate.

Beyond the food, there’s a sincere friendliness in the room, a feeling that the staff know many of their guests by name and genuinely enjoy the conversations that unfold. It’s the kind of discovery that makes Country Kitchen more than just a meal stop; it’s a place where routines turn into rituals and new regulars find themselves returning, drawn by the blend of familiarity and warmth that lingers long after the last bite.

Wonderful place! Great food, decent prices, locals and regulars hanging out with a friendly, efficient staff. Grits like an old Southern grandma would make, thick and chewy; these were real grits, not instant. Crinkle cut sweet potato fries were perfection on a plate. Omelet did not disappoint. Nom. Highly recommended, vast menu, bring the family something for everyone.

Very nice atmosphere! The food was very good! A friendly homey place, we were looking for a nice breakfast on our way to Tweed New Haven Airport. We were not disappointed!

Best breakfasts which they serve at lunch, too. I usually get their 2x2x2 - two scrambled eggs, two pieces of bacon & two pancakes. My friend today got eggs benedict & loved them. I had pancakes & we got a side of bacon to share. I've turned friends onto this place & they agree: great food. Leo is the owner/cook; Jessica is our server. I'd say it's a Hidden Gem but I think most of the people I know go there, so it's not that hidden!

The food was good the only problem is they have 1 waitress working . So when it is busy like it was today u wait for service. But she did a great job and I will go back
